When to come
Wind almost every month of the year
Around 250 to 300 kitable days a year. Thermal winds in summer, storm fronts in winter and steady trade winds all year round.
14 to 24 knots Winter fronts add punch. Busiest tourist months are December to March.
16 to 30 knots Thermal winds kick in. June to September is peak kite season.
10 to 20 knots Lighter days, perfect for foiling and wing.

The first Dominican pro kitesurfer, sponsored by Brunotti and Red Bull. He grew up in Cabarete and has known our instructors from his neighbourhood since he was a kid.

Came to Cabarete in 2011 with one suitcase and had never heard of kiteboarding. Nine hours of lessons later she was hooked, and she never went back.

Our crew
Every instructor is Dominican and IKO certified. Brother Manuel runs the bar, Minaura runs the kitchen at El Cocotazo. It is a family business, all hands on deck.

Came to Cabarete with my brother-in-law to learn to kiteboard in 5 days and our instructors, Jeison and Moreno, had us both shredding by the end of the week. I went from complete beginner to riding upwind, transitioning, and even getting some small jumps in.
They have taught our teenage son kite surfing for 3 spring breaks, from beginner to now a pretty dang good for a once a year kite surfer! Everyone here was super attentive, honest, kind and experienced.
Tracy and her team make you feel like family and they're honest players. Another school tried to sell me a whole package of full price lessons. Tracy understood I just needed a few hours to get some tips for how to handle the chop and deep water.
Perfect kiteboarding conditions everyday I was there. Food was fresh and spectacular at the cafe on the beach. Tracy and her team were incredibly kind, accommodating, and made every detail of planning seamless.
